Launching Instances Using the CLI

Instances are virtual machines that run inside the cloud on physical compute nodes managed by the Metacloud Compute service. You can launch any number of instances from the same image. Each launched instance runs from a copy of the base image. Any changes made to the instance do not affect the base image.

To launch an instance, follow the workflow described in Preparing to Launch Instances and then continue with one of the following methods:

The Instances topics describe how to perform the different tasks involved in instance management with the CLI, such as adding floating IP addresses, stopping and starting instances, and terminating instances.
